How long after a visit to the UK can I return to revisit the UK?

The 180 days rule myth.


We are often asked whether a person would need to wait another six months to revisit the UK after spending 6 months or less in the UK. For this reason, we will explain it below.


First point is: nothing prevents a person who has been granted a six-month visitor visa from staying in the UK for the entire six-month period of their visa and returning to visit the UK not long after receiving another six-month visitor visa.


This means that, there is nothing in the UK immigration rules that mentions that when a person visited the UK, he/she needs to remain X days outside of the UK before being able to re-visit.

The same is applicable for people who do not need to apply for a visitor visa prior to entering the UK as a visitor and consequently receive a visitor visa stamp in their passports when entering the country and long as the Immigration Officer is satisfied that the person is indeed a genuine visitor.


However, people who frequently come to the UK on a visitor visa and stay the full 6-month period here, tend to have future visitor visas refused or entry as a visitor refused by the Home Office if they believe that the person is making the UK their home through successive stays in the UK under a visitor visa, so pay attention to that!
